Germasogeia - A Village Blessed by Water
Discover the Natural Environment of Germasogeia
Offered by the Municipality of Germasogeia (Yermasoyia) in collaboration with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and the Cyprus Tourist Guides Association
Visitors coming to Germasogeia beach resort with its modern five-star hotels are often taken by surprise to find out that Germasogeia is not just a beach. Its area extends into the valley of Germasogeia where the old village of Germasogeia lies. The name of the village Yera-Mesogia [Gera-Mesogeia] - Holy Inland Area - derives from its location and its cultural background. Yera indicates that in the area there were many churches and Mesogia, that the village is away from the coast. The two areas of Germasogeia are "divided" by the new motorway.
In a different, warm and welcoming way the Municipality of Germasogeia invites visitors staying in the area to get to know more about Germasogcia by joining its Walking Tours. With this invitation, two special tours, Germasogeia - A Village Blessed by Water and Discover the Natural Environment of Germasogeia (organised every week between November - March - the particular day and time of each walk is found in the attached leaflet) are offered free of charge in a combined walking and coach tour. Visitors joining the walks will get a better feel for the place as well as a better understanding of the historic and cultural development of the area.
